Courtney and Robert Pagainis: 7 days Tsavo,Amboseli,Masai mara,Nakuru.(3-10-2010 to 9-10-2010)

The driver guide was great. He knew about parks, camps, hotel and road and made sure that the pace of the safari was not too fast or too slow.Camps were very comfortable, toilet paper was in short supply.Either advice tourist to bring toilet paper or keep spare supply in the truck.Lodges were nice but deviated from the plan on the last night. It was strange but turned out fine.Safari are wonderful but please pay attention to dietry restrictions.Advice to other tourists would be for them to bring flashlight, towels and toilet paper.Josephat made good food at Lake Nakuru guest house but Simon proved to be a master chef for the last for days.We had an excellent safari and are very greatful for everything Great Horizon did to make our trip as fun as possible.

Flavia Watts from UK: 2 Days Maasai Mara( 5/3/10)

The driver needs more knowledge on animals and birds for game drives.THe food was ok but check on the use of 4WD in wet weather-we got stuck in mud twice and the passengers had to push/lift the van out of mud.

UN Staffer in Sudan: Great staff!

What really set Great Horizon Trails apart was their attention to their customer.  The manager, Maricus, worked with my friend and I over email before we even begun our trip, meticulously following up with phone calls and emails.  On safari, he and his staff went the extra step to ensure we were comfortable and happy.  Although we witnessed another group have a housing issue, Great Horizon Trail staff quickly rectified the situation and ensured that the group remained satisfied.  There may be more luxurious safaris to select from (that come with the  significant cost increase), but Great Horizon Trails offers a wonderful safari experience and excellent customer service at a great value!

Brendan Walsh from UK: 1 Night Maasai Mara

The driver was very aggressive in driving but not very chatty about wildlife. We got stuck in the muddy roads twice and our clothes were ruined while in the process of pushing the van out.(we did'nt mind really)Good food but water was On and Off.We saw a good deal of wildlife during our the safari quite good.

Karen Weatherill from Australia: 3 Days Maasai Mara.10/12/2009

The driver was extremely friendly and accommodating.Actually nothing was a trouble. The lodges were good though unfortunately the boiler broke, ensuite unusable but generator played up.Had alot of fun during the safari,Tom has great knowledge of the park, wildlife and the history of the place.Would recommend tourists to try Great Horizon Trails and Tom the driver guide.

Lisa Goulart from Brazil: 3 Days Maasai Mara 29/10/09

The camps were everage since the toilets werent clean, zips on tent broke,no glass on bathroom window enabling bugs to penetrate inside and still there were gaps on tent but food was good. The safari was excellent though you should consider poping up top roof on vehicle coz we dint stay up and that was disapointing. The driver drove very fast but he was friendly and very good in sporting the animals.

Narmin Hassam from Canada: 3 Days Maasai Mara 29/10/09

We had a great game drive on the first day,saw a leopard,3 cheetahs and 2 lions before lunch time.Tomorrow should be a successful game drive too.The only thing that would have made it better would've been a working roof top in the vehicle.Tom the driver was very friendly and welcoming. He was  interested in finding out what animals we hoped to see and was genuinely committed to making our safari a memorable one.The camp facilities were very good and the tents were clean and comfortable. The shower had hot water.Moses did a great job preparing our meals-very tasty and I appreciated his abilities with respect to cooking vegetarian dishes.would advice other tourists to help your driver guide keep an eye out for animals as they are sometimes hard to spot.Don't spend the whole time taking pictures-observing the animals without a camera is quite an experience too.

Eric Canepa from USA: 3 days Maasai Mara. 29/10/09

Great Horizon Trails runs a great  safari. The staff are knowledgable though my only complain was the roof of your truck,it could fall if the truck hit bumps and can cause harm the clients. The driver conduct was great even when the vehicle had a certain problem,he was right on top of getting it fixed. He was able to answer all the questions we had and gave us plenty of time to enjoy the view and take pictures.Overall the camp was great. The chef,Moses, prepared amazing meals though the only complain i have is the lack of cold beer for sale.

Thursday, 14 October 2010

Thea Campbell from Australia: 3 days Maasai Mara and village.17/09/09

Fred was extremely knowledgeable in regards to wildlife and i felt safe with him driving. He had a fun, vibrant persona. The camp was sufficient, hot water, mosquito net and we very much appreciated. On the other hand the safari was amazing in what animals we viewed, slightly disappointed in day 2 when we had to stop our safari to collect the ballooning group.Tourists should definitely go with this company!

Thursday, 14 October 2010

Sergio Lourinho from Portugal: 4 Days Maasai Mara and Lake Nakuru.29/8/09

We saw all wildlife that was there to see even the leopard which is  normally rare to find.We had a very professional and knowledgeable driver and was familiar with the parks, knew the best tracks and led us to most of the wildlife available. We had an excellent accommodation at the Mara Sopa Lodge and Lake Nakuru Lodge which are beautifully set in the parks and the services are great. We highly recommend this Company to the other tourists.

Crail Clark from Canada: 3 days Maasai Mara.29/10/09

There were very great camps and was great to have a hot shower at the end of the day.We had a very good driver who gave us enough time to take pictures we wanted during our safari which was awesome and saw all the animals in the first day though the only problem was that the roof kept falling down all in all,I advice tourists to bring their own spare batteries and memory cards for the camera.

Friday, 15 October 2010

Alexis Book from USA: 3 days Maasai Mara.15/8/09

Sam was awesome!I was definitely impressed with his driving and his ability to get us into the best position to see the animals.Great accommodation with running water but wasn't consisted.Otherwise the accommodation were fine and the food was great.Definitely the safari was a good experience.Extra binoculars and camera batteries should be carried by the tourists.

Richard Tabuteau: 4 Day Safari

Tourists should make sure that Teddy as their guide and Moses is their chef. Also August is cold in Kenya unlike in the USA Or Europe so pack a jacket or a sweatshirt.the safari was excellent with variety of animals to see.The camp was also great but could be better and the Maasai village was great very interesting.Teddy the driver was excellent, funny and the best guide. He found every animal in the park that we desired to see.

Tania Martin Crut from Spain: Maasai Mara

Driver was very helpful and gave all the explanations that we required. He also knows well the National park and how and where to look for the animals. The accommodation was excellent. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and tidy and the staff helpful and the meals were on time and nice. The safari was also good.We saw plenty of animals and the landscape was beautiful.I think the fare to see the Maasai village should be included.I recommend tourists go for the safari.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Sonja Brett: Memorable trip

We had a professional driver and was very good at spotting animals and was very knowledgable. The lodges were decent though ended up going for a safari in the afternoon of the second day.I prefer breaking it up in the early morning and late afternoon game drives.

Friday, 15 October 2010

Neil Mainnes from England: Maasai Mara Trip

The driver was good though missed some hyenas but stopped for everything else. The camp had great view, good location.Could have had hot chocolate or chocolate cake or ice cream for desert. The safari was great though radios and mobile phones were annoying. The van roof should be made more secure with a clamp over the support bar triangle to stop the support jumping. For tourists I would recommend Great Horizon Trails.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Susan Stove from New Zealand: 3 Days Maasai Mara

The drivers conduct was very good, very polite and helpful. Also skilled at dodging pot holes. The safari exceeded our expectations-saw lots of animals close up and good varieties. The driver positioned the car well for viewing.I would advice tourists to make sure they know about platform at the lodge.Good service to use from booking to tour.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Martha Cushing from USA: 4 Day Safari

The driver was polite, informative, friendly and a good driver. The lodges were great but the toilets were not working during full stay.We asked for it to be repaired but nothing was done. There was also leak in sink and very limited water. We say many animals during our trip than we had even seen before.Tourists should not accept room if toilets are not working.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Josie Mai,Soulfari Kenya: Superb Safari

The driver was informative, helpful, fun but a bit demanding.Superb Safari was at the Lodge. We could see Hippos, crocodiles,Monkeys,Birds and we also had excellent and timely services. The safari at the part of Mara was extremely rocky, roads much more rough;did we missed the migration.Group was satisfied but I personally saw more: 23 lions in 10 minutes-great.Tourists should fly in- less time in the van is best, since you then spend many more hours in the van.On a Monday as we were driving,it began to rain very quickly the roads turned to mud and a two wheel drive got stuck so our four wheel drive had to help in towing the two wheel drive. Our driver handled the situation well but i see two problems,(1)why even go out when you see like a storm is coming?(2)the vans were not equipped. One was a useless two wheel drive stuck in the mud and we did not have our own rope in addition the drivers approached me at dinner to schedule the next morning safari.I canceled it knowing the roads would still be muddy. Both drivers seemed incredulous and annoyed that we refused to go and my understanding was that since we were all paying,we determing our itinerary. Also it would have been better to fly directly to the nearest airstrip instead of landing and driving in then we went on another drive a few hours later(too much for the first day).

Anne Chapman: Memorable Trip

Just to let you know that we arrived back in Johannesburg safe and sound and sue is now in the UK.Also wanted to thank you all for a wonderful holiday, full of memorable moments and experiences. You all went out of your way to make us feel welcome, safe and that nothing was too much trouble.I hope to make good on my promise to do another trip with my husband and meet up with you all again before too long.Thank you again.

Monday, 18 October 2010

Edna A. Smith from USA: Excellent trip

Driver's conduct was exemplary. He was friendly and helpful. He spotted animals from great distances and was also a great driver and there were no unnecessary bumps. On the other hand  the room was crowded though the food was ok but not really special. We saw many animals(we saw 4 out of 5 of the big five).tourists should  not go on game drives without a 4 by 4 and should go with Thaddeus as your driver.

Friday, 15 October 2010

Jwasal from USA: Satisfactory Safari

The driver was professional, appropriate and respectful. The lodges were clean, good location that is near the airstrip though there was restriction on crossing the whole park. There was also electricity restrictions which is also not good but necessary. The safari was satisfying.clients to group there safari and leave with a flow.

Larry and Carolyn Kingry from Alaska: 9 Days Cultural Safari (2007)

Yes, the world famous Maasai mara is a must see, however,Kenya has much more to offer the world.Home of the beginning of civiliazation,it's peoples and cultures offer valuable insights into the past, present, and stimulates the mind to conteplate the future. It this treasure of culture that we sought in our first trip to Africa and the kenya interior seldom visited by nd outsiders.Great Horizon Trails offers a rare service to explore this culture, and does it in a style that exceeded my expectations, even after extensive research. We could not have done in 30 days by ourselves what Marcus and crew delivered in 9 days.Theres just no substitute for local knowledge and talent and Marcus coordinated a network of local talent and logistics  to give us a trip of a life time.come with an  open mind and you may leave your heart in Kenya.
