Kenya, from which the country of Kenya got its name.
continues to draw mountain climbing aficionados to
its snow-covered peaks of Point Lenana, Batian and
Nelion. Rising to 14,900ft above prime agricultural
country just two hours' drive from the city of Nairobi,
Mount Kenya is easily reached and the following routes
can be used to reach the summit. Accommodation is
also plentiful both on the slopes and along the mountain
climbing routes.

Longonot, a hiking experience! |
Hiking
can be conducted on several hills and mountains
in Kenya including the Mount Longonot, an
extinct volcano just an hours' drive from
Nairobi, the Mount Elgon in Western Kenya
- famous for its giant caves where elephants
enter to lick away at the walls which contain
salt that is rich in minerals.
Trekking
and hiking trips can also be carried out in
the Loita Hills, an area that is also rich
in game.

highest mountain in Africa Mount Kilimanjaro
- also called the "roof of
Africa" or the
"mountain of the buffalo"
rises gradually from the African savanna to
reach a peak of 19,384ft at its summit.

constantly assaulting the mountain slopes in
