Kenya
- a land of renown and of diverse attractions beckons to the
traveler. The notable attractions range from cultural visits
and fishing trips on the West Coast with its great inland
sea, the Lake Victoria; to beach holidays and water sports
on its East Coast with the enticement of the azure waters
of the Indian Ocean; a visit to the famous islands of Mombasa
and Lamu while listening to the fabulous stories that make
up the rich past of the people of the region.
The
Great Rift Valley that dissects the country into two and features
panoramic vistas that include breath-taking views of extinct
volcanoes, salty inland seas and picturesque countryside.
Hot deserts in the North contrast greatly with the cool farmlands
of the highlands that make up the escarpment of the Rift Valley
giving the visitor a taste of the extremities of the climate
that is found at the equator.

Despite
these variations Kenya is an ideal holiday makers destination
with some pristine locations that feature both zoological
and botanical diversities that support some nearly extinct
animal and plant species. The Kakamega Forest and the Arabuko
Sokoke are some of these important areas that are home to
some unique orchids, butterflies and bird life. Kenya has
put aside a considerable portion of its land for wildlife
conservation and the result has been the Maasai Mara Game
Park, made famous as the scene of the annual migration of
the wildebeest with its accompanying game; the Shaba National
Park known as the home of the lioness Elsa of the "Born
Free" fame, the extensive Tsavo National Park with
its rich story of "The Man Eaters of Tsavo";
Samburu National Park where a lioness adopted baby antelopes
repeatedly over a period of six months and many more. Below
